Cavan Sullivan Nets First Professional Goals Against Defence Force

Cavan Sullivan, a 2009-born American midfielder for the Philadelphia Union, recently became the youngest American to score a goal in the CONCACAF Champions Cup at 16 years, 4 months, and 29 days. This goal also made Sullivan the youngest player in Philadelphia Union history to score in a professional match, placing him among the youngest players to score in MLS history and marking a defining moment in his rapidly growing career at the professional level.

In the Champions Cup matchup between Philadelphia Union vs Defence force, Sullivan scored two goals as well as providing two assists, helping his team secure a victory and move onto the round of 16 of the Champions Cup. At just 16 years old, Sullivan has already begun to impress the world football with his incredible talent and ability to compete at such a high level.

Cavan Sulivan joined the Philadelphia Union Academy from FC Delco in 2020. He immediately began progressing at a rapid pace, playing for both the U15 and U17 MLS Next teams. Sullivan also played for Philadelphia Union ii, becoming the youngest goalcorer in the clubs MLS Next Pro history. 

Sullivan has made a significant name for himself across American youth soccer and the media, earning interest from top European Clubs, Including Manchester City. He is expected to transfer in 2027, in a deal reportedly worth over 5 million, which would rank among one of the most impressive youth transfers in U.S. Soccer History.
